The Cumberland Rivers Association was started in the fall of 2020 by a group of like-minded individuals that have spent vast amounts of time in the area, and wanted to give back and make a difference. It has been a number of years since there had been such an association and there was a desire to form a group to fight for the wild species and aquatic habitat in the county. There are several gorgeous rivers, lakes, ponds and streams in Cumberland County, with a world class fishery. There are two premium salmon rivers, the River Philip and the Wallace River located here, with large, healthy runs still remaining. The organization will be working with a host of recognized affiliates and partners to promote sustainability and to grow our species and fisheries.
Our mission is to make the river habitat and waterways in Cumberland County better for all species, while not prioritizing the growth of one species to the detriment of another. The association seeks to create healthy, sustainable fisheries for future generations to enjoy, with a main focus on stakeholder engagement and paying respects to the caretakers of the land and indigenous communities.
We have lots of exciting projects in store and can't wait to share them with you! Visit our Projects page for more information.
