We have lots of great stuff planned for 2021, and years to come. See below for our current project outlook for the 2021 season. Click the pictures to see more information and pictures about each project!
As you may have seen in our social media, we are working on building and deploying sturdy benches for popular pools and fishing spots. More information will come on where and when you will see these. However, you should expect to see in a number of spots in April. If you have a spot that you would like to see a bench send us a message and we'd be happy to chat.
We are currently working on pool signs for named pools on River Philip and Wallace River. In some cases there may also be directional arrows assisting anglers to find the desired pool. Keep an eye out for these in April. If you have a spot you'd like to see a sign, or would like to report a pool name, please send us a message. Click on the picture for more details!
If you spend a lot of time at some popular pools, you've likely noticed fishing line, tippet, and leader all over the ground, so have we. In 2022 we will be doing deploying some ClearyourGear.ca line waste receptacles at some high traffic fishing spots. We would really like to hear your opinions and thoughts on these, and if you'd like to see them in more areas. Please share your thoughts with us.
Starting in 2021 we started to put up some "Pack it in, Pack it out" type signage at some popular fishing locations. We hope to reduce the amount of garbage being left in and along our waterways. Please help up us to keep Cumberland County clean and trash free. If you know a spot that particularly needs such signage, please send us a message and let us know.
The largest project we plan to undertake in 2022 is a willow tree planting project to stabilize critical bank areas on the River Philip which are collapsing and eroding. We are looking to do a 5 year project for bank stabilization which will also include the Wallace River in future years. We are planning to work with several partners to make this project a reality including land owners. Stay tuned for more information on this project. If you are aware of a bank or section of river requiring this work please send us a message and let us know.
Throughout the 2022 season and beyond we hope to work with land owners to clear some pathways and trails to certain fishing spots. Stay tuned for more information on this project. If you know of a spot and would like to volunteer to help us, please send us a message and let us know.
Many of the projects above will require the assistance of many volunteers, and we appreciate any time you can contribute to help us. If you would like to help with any of our project work, or believe you can provide assistance in other ways, please send us a message. We would be very happy to hear from you!
